Magistrates in Sittingbourne, Kent heard that Mrs Johns had filed for divorce
on April 4, 2009 and received a ‘Decree nisi’ - an interim form which allows
time for objections to a divorce to be made.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice said: “A prison officer from HMP
Swaleside, currently on leave, is facing charges relating to bigamy.”

They added that the warder is taking normal holiday time and has not been
placed on enforced leave.
